At the Board Meeting, we met our two new prospective Board Members, Daniel Holliday and Jesse Leal.
Daniel was born and raised here in the South Los Altos neighborhood, moved away for a time and then came back. His main reasons for wanting to join SLANA as a Board Member is that he has seen the neighborhood decline, and wants to help change it. He is concerned about people from outside the neighborhood causing problems in the neighborhood, such as stealing things. He would also like to reduce the incidents of people speeding through the neighborhood, perhaps with signage reminding people it’s a residential / neighborhood area and/or with speed bumps. Jesse owns and manages the neighborhood State Farm, located at the corner of Buena Ventura and Eubank. He has been here for 15 years, while his predecessor was there 32 years before that! He insures a lot of people in the area, and tries to work with business and resident neighbors including with safety (cameras, clean brush/bushes), as well as allowing a food truck on weekends for activity (so the parking lot isn’t empty all weekend and looks better). Pres. Eileen Jessen report on the upcoming National Night Out:
Kathy Petersen made a motion to accept Daniel Holliday and Jesse Leal as new Board Members, Allen Osborn seconded; unanimous vote.
