Neighborhood Update: Central Ave Main Street Plan Moves to the Next Stage!
Following yesterday's neighborhood meeting, the proposed amendment to the Albuquerque Comprehensive Plan to extend the Main Street Corridor designation has officially been forwarded to the next stage of city development. Because our neighborhood’s southern border sits directly on Central Avenue between Wyoming and Eubank, the South Los Altos community continues to have a major stake in this ongoing process.

What Happened Yesterday & What’s Next?

• The Progress: Neighborhood and city representatives reviewed the city’s application packet (see the Justification Letter and the Public Notice Checklist, as well as the images at the end of this post) to expand the corridor eastward along Central Avenue all the way to Tramway Blvd.
• The Next Stage: The plan has officially moved forward from initial community review to formal evaluation by city boards, putting it one step closer to a final City Council vote.
• What this Means for Us: This designation framework targets Central Avenue for priority infrastructure dollars (better street lighting, pedestrian crossings), transit upgrades, and incentives to redevelop underutilized commercial properties right on our border.
